The Project Eternity Kickstarter was a huge success, which is awesome. Now we just have to wait and see what they come up with.
NWN2 Facelift PackIf you love playing NWN2/its expansions, or even if you've never played it but might be willing to try it sometime... This in progress mod may be of interest to you. For those of you who've played NWN2: Yes, this means elves that don't look so strange. This mod is creating new and very nice looking faces to replace the default heads of all the player races (though I think you can choose to have them as well as the defaults so they don't override the originals) and the companion NPCs. Currently there are human, aasimar, half-elf, sun elf, drow, and wood elf heads that you can grab along with new heads for Bevil, Neeshka and Elanee. The original campaign is being done first, then it will probably move onto heads, races and companions from the expansions, MotB and then SoZ (I can't wait to see a decent looking face on Gann that looks at least a bit more like his drawn portrait).
Also, on the subject of NWN2:
This tells you how to get rid of the ECL level adjustments on whatever player races you want (and explains that the ECL on genasi are apparently implemented wrong in NWN2 anyway).
And you can put
custom portraits on your NWN2 character like those on the companions in NWN2: MotB.
BGEE came out last month too, and while I haven't played through it myself I did take a look at the Black Pits (a small add-on adventure). I am planning to play through BGEE, I'm just waiting until most of the bugs have been ironed out (they seem to be pretty good with supplying patches).
So, the Black Pits:
I found it interesting and entertaining, I loved being able to play a new adventure in the infinity engine. It wasn't very long, so as much as I dislike DLC I am kinda hoping that they put out some sort of sequel to it or something as DLC, or with BG2EE (but with more maps and exploring and adventuring and questing).
Lastly, the Valen Flirtpack has finally been released! (Thanks to Auddi picking it up and doing an awesome job of speeding along with progress on it) Check
here for more details (you'll need to register to download it).
And I'm thoroughly enjoying BGEE as BGTUTU never worked for me
Oh! That's good news
The only thing that bugged me a little was the portrait size change. It's nice to have bigger portraits... But it means there are so many older BG/IE game portraits that can't be used in BGEE (unless they're updated, which for the majority of them won't really be possible without just enlarging them). I guess it does kinda force you to find a new bunch of portraits to choose from though.
Using the Shadowkeeper and modding can only be done with some tinkering now but it's not too bad. The only thing I have noticed is that weapons are not being destroyed, even with the corrupt ore in the inventory.
I still haven't manage to make the portraits work in BGEE. I don't know if it's the size, or the type, or the format I've saved them in, but the game just won't recognize them. I followed all the "how to-s". Once real portrait packs are out I'll see what's going on. Which is all good in my opinion, as I have yet to draw one for Narra -_-
Yeah I noticed that about Shadowkeeper. Hmm, that's odd. When I was playing the Black Pits my weapons were breaking frequently, it was a real pain
Are you making the potraits folder in the My Documents directory? Because their how to thing is rubbish, it's just the old one copy-pasted (even says the old sizes). It neglects to mention that you don't make the portraits folder in your Program Files/Whatever folder now, you make it in (My)Documents/Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition/Portraits. Even if your files aren't the right size they'll still show up, just... really tiny. Ugh portraits. They're often so difficult to make/get looking good.
Yeah, I moved them there and game sees the files but it won't show the images in game
Ah, that's a pain, must be the image type or... I think they had some problems with 24 bit or 32 bit images or something? Might be that.
